Job Title: HR Business Partner

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team at GB Railfreight. As an HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for partnering with business leaders and managers to provide HR expertise, develop and implement people-focused strategies, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with client group leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Conduct regular meetings with business unit leaders to discuss and address people-related challenges.
  • Build and maintain relationships with client groups to ensure issues are identified, reported, and resolved.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions and policies.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including investigations, TUPE, redundancy, settlements, and disputes.
  • Coach managers on fair culture principles and employment law practices.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance workforce retention and talent management.
  • Work with the wider HR function to provide solutions to meet business resourcing needs.
  • Support operational managers in local-level union matters.
  • Collaborate with other HR Business Partners to ensure a consistent approach to people matters across the business.

Requirements:

  • Strong business/commercial approach and understanding of business needs.
  • Proven experience of working in partnership with senior managers to improve people management.
  • Passionate about helping others and making a positive difference to people's working lives.
  • Experience of employee relations, including grievance, disciplinary, investigation, and capability handling.
  • Coaching and influencing experience.
  • Excellent technical knowledge, including CIPD qualification or working towards.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills, including investigation meetings and disciplinary outcome letters.
  • Organizational change programs experience, including TUPE, redundancy, and reorganizations.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced HR environment, working under pressure, and to tight deadlines.

  • Self-confident but can also reflect and critically appraise own work.
