Job Responsibilities
The role entails overseeing the Treatment Department's operations, ensuring effective classification and assignment of supervisees within the Unit. The incumbent guarantees that high-quality programs and services are delivered to address the treatment needs of supervisees. Additionally, this position acts as an Administrative Duty Officer, managing institutional functions on a rotational basis.
Key Duties Include:
- Conducting and participating in unit meetings to ensure compliance with audit standards and facilitate information sharing.
- Assisting in the formulation, preparation, compliance, review, and revision of ACA Standards documentation and Treatment policies/procedures.
- Building and nurturing professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance communication networks and support supervisee needs.
- Encouraging professional development for oneself and staff through training initiatives.
- Potentially supervising staff and managing various departments including the Law Library, Records, Laundry, Recreation, Medical, Hearings, and Chaplain Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess a comprehensive understanding of VADOC correctional policies, procedures, and practices. A proven ability to prepare reports and develop policies or procedures is essential. Extensive knowledge of supervisee classification processes and offender programs is required.
Additional Considerations
Preference will be given to candidates with additional expertise in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related fields. Prior supervisory experience and familiarity with inmate treatment methodologies are advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also necessary.
