Financial Governance Specialist

Durham Wildlife Trust is a leading conservation charity dedicated to protecting and restoring nature in the North East of England. As a Financial Governance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial stability and sustainability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial guidance and advice to the Board of Trustees and senior management team.
  • Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee to ensure effective financial governance.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure timely and accurate preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Relevant accountancy or financial qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CFA).
  • Proven experience in financial management and governance, preferably in a charity or not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
