About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial Manager to join our team at Venesky Brown. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing key accounts and negotiating contracts, ensuring the production of monthly cost and value reports, and providing input to the OP business plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Management: Ensure the effective management of commercial aspects of projects, including contract negotiation, cost control, and risk management.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Produce and analyze commercial reports, including monthly cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and company tied costs.
  • Business Planning: Provide input to the OP business plan, including region/sector quarterly and annual results.
  • Dispute Resolution: Identify and manage disputes, providing input to dispute resolution processes.
  • Risk Management: Advise on risk profiling and management, verifying NP22 implementation.
  • Contract Management: Assist with contract reviews, award vetting, and negotiation of insurance claims.
  • Supply Chain Management: Maintain contact with supply chain partners, including contract vetting and input to contract documentation.
  • Sub-Contract Management: Carry out sub-contract document vetting and input to sub-contract documentation.
  • Project Reviews: Support and undertake project reviews on behalf of business assurance or internally as a 'health check'.
  • Leadership and Development: Demonstrate leadership and role-modeling in areas of diversity, inclusion, wellbeing, and social value.
  • Commercial Forums: Convene and attend commercial and operational staff forums at frequent intervals.
  • Process Improvement: Support and promote the roll-out of new procedures, processes, and tools for the business.
  • Audit and Compliance: Ensure audits are carried out and feedback is provided to the business.
  • Pre-Construction Activities: Provide commercial input to pre-construction activities.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management: Provide commercial advice to clients and stakeholders, and input to region/sector commercial discussions/reviews.
Requirements
  • Commercial Experience: Successfully operated at senior commercial level in a project delivery environment.
  • Professional Qualifications: Be a member or Fellow of the CICES, RICS, or CIOB.
  • Construction Law and Contractual Terms: Understand construction law, dispute resolution, and contractual terms in all standard contract forms.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to establish, maintain, and enhance client and supply chain relationships.
  • Value Engineering and Cost Reduction: Adopt a proactive approach in the identification and implementation of value engineering and cost reduction opportunities.
