Role Purpose

The effective management and oversight of our tertiary education budget is crucial for the success of our learners and the broader community. In this role, you will oversee funding for educational providers, as well as manage investments and monitoring of degree apprenticeships and higher education budgets related to teaching, research, and innovation. Your leadership will be vital in ensuring optimal value for financial resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to your team, ensuring effective delivery and management of resources.
  • Lead initiatives to develop and implement funding strategies across the tertiary education sector.
  • Oversee financial accountability and control processes for an annual budget of approximately £900 million, identifying trends and reallocating resources as necessary.
  • Balance the stability of funding with the need for agility in responding to emerging priorities.
  • Navigate the complexities of the tertiary education landscape, managing competing demands to achieve the best outcomes for learners and society.
  • Contribute to key initiatives related to adult education planning, skill provision, and facilitating informed decision-making for learners.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent Medr at a senior level, ensuring effective investment and monitoring of the tertiary education budget.

Challenges

Team Overview

You will lead a team of approximately 11 professionals within the Development, Investment, and Performance Directorate, playing a crucial role in managing a £900 million budget. The team collaborates with various departments to ensure strategic priorities are funded effectively.
