Project description:

In partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board and the West Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board (WGRPB), we are advertising a PhD project aimed at enhancing community wellbeing in West Glamorgan. This endeavour integrates theoretical frameworks, practical interventions, and innovative methodological approaches, while considering the linguistic and cultural diversity of the population. This study seeks to address the overarching question of how to promote holistic wellbeing while examining the challenges and opportunities of conducting research within a bilingual community.

Eligibility

Candidates must hold an UK Bachelor degree with a minimum of Upper Second Class honours or overseas Bachelor degree deemed equivalent to UK Bachelor (by UK ECCTIS) and achieved a grade equivalent to UK Upper Second Class honours.

Candidates must also hold a master's degree (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University).

Alternatively, applicants with a UK first class honours degree (or overseas Bachelor degree deemed equivalent to UK Bachelor (by UK ECCTIS) and achieved a grade equivalent to UK First Class honours) not holding a master's degree, will be considered on an individual basis.

IELTS 6.5 Overall (with no individual component below 6.5) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.

Applicants must be fluent Welsh speakers with the additional requirement of being able to confidently write in Welsh (and or/hold a Welsh literature GCSE grade C or above).

Due to funding restrictions, this scholarship is open to applicants eligible to pay tuition fees at the UK rate only, as defined by UKCISA regulations.

This scholarship covers the full cost of UK tuition fees and an annual stipend at £19,237.

Additional research expenses of up to £1,000 per year will also be available.
