Paediatric Anaesthesia and Simulation Fellow

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paediatric Anaesthesia and Simulation Fellow to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleThe Paediatric Anaesthesia and Simulation Fellow will provide a high-quality elective and emergency anaesthetic service as requested. The successful candidate will engage in clinical governance activities, including critical incident reporting, morbidity and mortality meetings, audit, and mandatory training. They will also arrange and facilitate regular Managing Emergencies in Paediatric Anaesthesia (MEPA) simulation courses and engage in other simulation teaching and systems simulation activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a high-quality elective and emergency anaesthetic service as requested.
- Engage in clinical governance activities, including critical incident reporting, morbidity and mortality meetings, audit, and mandatory training.
- Arrange and facilitate regular MEPA simulation courses and engage in other simulation teaching and systems simulation activities.
- Actively engage in the teaching and training of other members of the anaesthetic department and hospital staff.
- Engage with quality improvement activity.
- Perform additional management and administrative tasks as deemed appropriate to the position.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have:
- Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice or IELTS Certificate with an overall score of 7 in each domain or Occupational English Test (medicine version) with a minimum score of B in each domain.
- FRCA (or equivalent level of knowledge).
- At least 3 years' higher specialist training in anaesthesia and within 2 years of completing or up to 2 years post completing a recognised training scheme.
- Experience of teaching and presenting.
- Experience of audit/quality improvement activities.
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance.
- One year's training in paediatric anaesthesia (or equivalent experience).
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload, and the ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary environment.
