About the Head of Internal Audit Role

Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a seasoned professional to lead their Internal Audit function. As a key member of the organization, the Head of Internal Audit will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an annual risk-based audit plan, aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Manage a team of internal audit professionals, providing guidance and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality audit services.
  • Collaborate with the Board Risk Committee and Executive Risk Committee to ensure effective risk management and governance.
  • Provide regular reports to the Board Audit Committee and other stakeholders on audit progress, emerging risks, and trends.
  • Ensure the adequacy of resources, knowledge, and experience within the Internal Audit function to support the delivery of effective and independent assurance.
  • Develop and utilize a robust audit methodology, aligned with the Institute of Internal Audit Standards and good practice.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Internal Audit function, ensuring alignment with the organization's vision, strategy, policies, and values.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Senior Management Function (SMF) holder within the financial services industry.
  • At least 10 years' experience in a senior role within audit, risk, or governance.
  • Good knowledge of internal auditing, the IIA standards, and experience in delivering audit programs and working with management and Board Audit Committee.
  • Aligns with the strategies, objectives, and risks of the organization.
  • Demonstrates quality and continuous improvement.
  • Provides risk-based assurance.
Qualifications
  • ACMA, ACCA, or equivalent qualifications.
