Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Internal Audit and Risk to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for leading the internal audit function and providing assurance on the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement an annual risk-based audit plan and budget for approval by the Board Audit Committee.
- Provide periodic opinions on the overall effectiveness of the governance, culture, and risk and control framework across the organization.
- Issue regular reports to the Board Audit Committee and other relevant boards and committees regarding progress of the plan and budget, emerging risks and trends, and the level of overdue audit actions and failed validations.
- Ensure the adequacy of resource levels, knowledge, and experience within the internal audit function to support the delivery of effective and independent assurance.
- Develop and utilize a robust audit methodology that meets the requirements of the Institute of Internal Audit Standards and good practice.
- Provide leadership to the internal audit function in line with the organization's vision, strategy, policies, regulations, and values.
- Support management across the organization in improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Inspire and engage others through role modeling the corporate values and behaviors across and beyond own area of responsibility and challenging examples of unacceptable behavior.
- Ensure that people management practices are implemented in accordance with the organization's people management policies, procedures, and culture.
- Develop and deliver the internal audit strategy and vision.
- Previous experience as a Senior Manager or equivalent within a financial services organization.
- At least 10 years' experience in a senior role within financial services (audit/risk/governance).
- Good knowledge of internal auditing, the IIA standards, and experience in delivering audit programs and working with management and board audit committees on how much auditing to do and effective closure of audit findings.
- Aligns with the strategies, objectives, and risks of the organization.
- Demonstrates quality and continuous improvement.
- Provides risk-based assurance.
- ACMA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
