Job Summary

This position functions as a worker in the Foster Care and Family Services unit, providing direct services for fostering and sustaining the social, health, economic, behavioral, and emotional functioning of individuals and families. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social work principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops treatment plans to address client needs and goals
  • Represents the agency in court proceedings, including interpreting laws and preparing court records
  • Provides direct intervention and service delivery for complex social work cases
  • Conducts field visits to residential facilities and consults with therapists and residential staff
  • Prepares and submits budget estimates and ensures payment for services
Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field, with a minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social work principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior and motivational theory, laws, policies, and regulations relating to human services program areas, and social, economic, and health problems. Skill in operating a motor vehicle and personal computer with associated software.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Foster Care/Adoption program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training or experience. Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.

Special Requirements

Requires occasional work outside of normal business hours and reoccurring out of state travel may be required. All applicants are subject to DMV/driving record check, pre-employment drug screen, Central Registry (CPS) check and/or criminal history search.
