The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Family Services Specialist II in the Foster Care and Family Services unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing direct services to individuals and families, developing treatment plans, and representing the agency in court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops treatment plans to address social, health, economic, behavioral, and emotional needs of individuals and families
  • Represents the agency in court proceedings, including interpreting laws and preparing court records
  • Provides direct intervention and service delivery for complex social work cases
  • Coordinates casework and conducts field visits to residential facilities
  • Prepares and submits budget estimates and ensures payment for services

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's degree in any field with two years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior and motivational theory, laws and policies related to human services, and social, economic, and health problems
  • Ability to write court reports, home studies, evaluations, and other documents
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain diplomacy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Foster Care and Adoption program area
  • Completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training or experience

Special Requirements:

  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours
  • Reoccurring out-of-state travel may be required
  • Background checks, including DMV/driving record check, pre-employment drug screen, Central Registry (CPS) check, and/or criminal history search
