Position Overview: The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications for the role of People Services Administrator. This position is based at SFRS HQ and offers both permanent and temporary employment opportunities. The role entails full-time engagement, comprising 35 hours per week, with the potential for involvement in three distinct areas within the directorate: People Administration, People Resourcing Administration, and People Modern Apprenticeship Administration.

Flexible Working: While these positions are primarily full-time, we welcome applications from individuals interested in part-time, job share, or flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidates will join a dedicated team within the People Directorate, contributing to the development and execution of SFRS People Services initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Administering and processing job vacancies, promotional campaigns, and selection processes through the Services' electronic recruitment portal.
  • Managing administrative tasks related to vacancy creation, application shortlisting, selection testing, and interview scheduling.
  • Ensuring timely communication of candidate status at each stage of the recruitment process.
  • Maintaining and updating SFRS systems, including HR/Payroll and electronic resourcing systems, to ensure data accuracy and compliance with SFRS guidelines.
  • Providing administrative support for various People transactional services, including Discipline & Grievance, Maternity, Paternity, Adoption Arrangements, and more.
  • Supporting the administration of the Modern Apprentice Programme and SVQ Centre functions.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess previous experience in a busy administrative setting, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills. Essential attributes include:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work flexibly and accurately to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in handling personal and confidential data, with a solid understanding of Data Protection Legislation.
  • A working knowledge of IT applications, particularly Office software.

Work Schedule: The standard working week for support staff is 35 hours, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to attend the office one day per week under a hybrid working model.
