About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Cytopathology team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working in our high throughput molecular diagnostics laboratory, carrying out HPV testing and assisting in the daily workload management of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with colleagues to manage the daily workload and ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.
  • Conduct HPV testing and other diagnostic procedures to high standards.
  • Support Senior Biomedical Scientists with quality, training, health and safety, and IT responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safe working practices and high-quality workflow within the Cytopathology service.
  • Play a key role in delivering a high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare service.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • State registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC).
  • City and Guilds Diploma of Cervical Cytology NVQ level 3 or NHSCSP Certificate in Cervical Cytology.
  • BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
  • Understanding of clinical laboratory equipment performance evaluation, including highly complex instrumentation.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic scientific work and microscopy.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Effective role model, demonstrating the hospital's PRIDE values of People-focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
