About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Scientist to join our Bacteriology team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory procedures, interpreting test results, and contributing to the maintenance of our ISO 15189 accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing routine laboratory procedures in all areas of the Bacteriology Laboratory, including plate reading, antibiotic sensitivity testing, and automated techniques.
- Interpreting test results and providing accurate and timely reports to users.
- Assisting in the training of staff and students, and maintaining technical standards through external quality assurance schemes.
- Managing and maintaining specialized databases, including LIS and patient storage databases.
- Participating in clinical trials and evaluating new equipment and consumable items.
- Educating and training all grades of staff as required within their specialized area.
Requirements
- MSc Biomedical Sciences/Microbiology or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
- Advanced theoretical and highly practical knowledge in specialized service for Microbiology.
- Able to interpret and react to internal and external quality assurance results.
- Ability to work within a complex team.
