Position Overview
The Student Welfare and Support Coordinator will play a pivotal role within the Student Support and Wellbeing framework, primarily focused on enhancing the experience of students at UCL East. This individual will serve as a crucial resource for students residing and studying at this campus, while also extending support to those on the Bloomsbury campus. Collaboration with various departments across UCL will be essential to strengthen the support network and ensure effective engagement with the student body.
This role is designed to complement the efforts of mental health professionals, disability advisors, academic staff, and peer support initiatives available in the vicinity. The Coordinator will be instrumental in cultivating a sense of community and belonging within the newly established UCL East environment.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will be responsible for providing essential administrative assistance to the Student Support and Wellbeing Team. Key tasks include:
- Managing student inquiries and providing timely responses.
- Handling telephone communications and scheduling appointments.
- Disseminating important information and coordinating various projects.
- Offering guidance and liaising with services to ensure comprehensive support for students with disabilities and those experiencing wellbeing or mental health challenges.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should possess a strong understanding of student welfare issues and community support services, alongside a solid grasp of the UK higher education landscape, relevant disability legislation, and confidentiality protocols.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with strong interpersonal abilities to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals. The ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure during challenging situations is crucial.
