Position Overview:
The Student Attendance and Wellbeing Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a nurturing educational atmosphere at Galileo Global Education. This position focuses on meticulous attendance oversight and addressing the personal, social, and academic hurdles that students encounter. The individual in this role will take full responsibility for the attendance monitoring process, ensuring strict adherence to attendance policies, developing efficient operational procedures, and maintaining accurate attendance records and reports.
Key Duties:
- Oversee and document students' daily attendance by analyzing reports and notifications, ensuring records are consistently updated.
- Engage with students to address attendance challenges, provide guidance on best practices, and facilitate referrals for additional academic or pastoral assistance as necessary.
- Identify and escalate cases of students with frequent or extended absences to relevant stakeholders, ensuring compliance with established attendance protocols.
- Collaborate with the Student & Academic Services Manager and other teams to establish a comprehensive welfare reporting and tracking system to address attendance and wellbeing concerns.
- Manage documentation of absence justifications submitted by students, updating the system with categorized absences and offering appropriate pastoral support.
- Issue formal notifications regarding attendance concerns, maintaining precise records of all communications.
- Document all interactions with students thoroughly, focusing on understanding their unique situations.
- Provide regular attendance and welfare reports to Programme Leaders, tracking necessary follow-up actions and ensuring they are informed of any interventions.
- Generate various management reports, including attendance statistics and outcomes of interventions.
- Actively contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing student attendance rates and overall student welfare.
- Support the implementation of the Attendance and Engagement Policy, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required, in line with the role.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- Certification in safeguarding young individuals.
- Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Background in providing advisory and/or pastoral support.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in managing spreadsheets and student record systems.
- Ability to analyze data and produce insightful reports.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, demonstrating a commitment to service excellence.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
