Attendance and Welfare Officer

Tempest Resourcing Limited is collaborating with a prominent secondary school in Bolton to recruit a skilled Attendance and Welfare Officer.

About the Role

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Attendance and Welfare Officer who can work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must have Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent, possess strong IT skills, be a good communicator, approachable and have a positive attitude towards staff and learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Improve student attendance to meet targets set by the Headteacher.
  • Manage attendance process elements for pupils leaving the school, leave of absence requests, Children Missing Education, Elective Home Education and alternative provision.
  • Ensure the Children Missing Education procedure is followed by the school.
  • Check registers for errors and messages and liaise with school staff regarding unknown absences from lessons.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to promote whole school attendance strategies to improve attendance levels and reduce persistent absence.
  • Receive incoming calls regarding attendance and telephone parents/carers for absent children.
  • Contact Parent(s)/Carer(s) when students are marked absent and the reason is not yet known.
