Technical Systems Specialist / Senior Technical Systems Specialist

  • Location: Flexible Hybrid Work Model
  • Compensation: £35,000 - £60,000 with comprehensive benefits

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the creation of high-performance targeting and surveillance systems for defense applications. With a growing portfolio of projects and a well-established global clientele, we seek skilled professionals to help us fulfill these significant contracts.

This position offers the chance to take a leading role in project delivery, with substantial responsibility for managing project risks, budgets, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities - Technical Systems Specialist

  • Requirements gathering and management.
  • Design and definition of Functional and Physical Systems Architecture.
  • System modeling and analysis.
  • Development of Engineering Management Plans, including Safety Management, Test Integration & Acceptance, and Technical Risk Management.
  • Collection of verification evidence for System Requirements.
  • Creation of Procurement Specifications for subsystems and components.
  • Drafting test specifications.
  • Conducting design reviews.
  • Formulating Environmental Qualification Plans (EMC, Temperature, Shock & Vibration).

Required Skills & Experience - Technical Systems Specialist

Essential Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in systems engineering within a defense or comparable industry.
  • Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Visure, R4J).
  • Experience with work package management tools such as JIRA.
  • Strong report writing skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Technical leadership experience in project teams, with significant responsibility for managing project risks and ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Experience collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Background in working within multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management standards (e.g., MIL-STD 882E, DEF-STAN 00-56, ISO 12100:2010).
  • Familiarity with statutory compliance (e.g., CE Marking).
  • Understanding of Camera Sensor Technology (Infrared and visible spectrum, DRI performance).
  • Experience with Fault-Tree and Failure Mode Analysis.
