Keltbray IDEC is seeking a Control Systems Specialist who will report directly to the Technical Manager and Lead Engineer, focusing on project-related tasks.
This role involves collaboration within the design team, contributing to the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) tailored for Power applications, including Renewable Energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance and Cyber Security standards established for the project.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a project team.
- Develop I/O schedules and Signal Lists based on client-provided documentation and discussions.
- Create Functional Design Specifications derived from User Requirement Specifications, Control Philosophies, and client interactions.
- Prepare testing documentation to validate that project objectives have been met.
- Support the development of System Architecture.
- Engage in the development, modification, and testing of software for Controllers, HMI, SCADA, and Network devices, including Client Factory Acceptance Testing (CFAT).
- Provide onsite commissioning assistance.
- Review technical documentation and software produced by team members.
- Manage purchase requisitions for project-specific equipment.
- Specify equipment requirements for procurement.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications (dependent on experience):
- Level 4 (HNC/NVQ) or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Preferred: Progressing towards or having achieved I. Eng or equivalent.
- Desirable: Successful candidates will possess relevant experience.
Knowledge Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of applied IACS technologies and architectures, including Industrial Protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU, etc.) and Ethernet Networking (Linear, Star, Ring, etc.).
- Familiarity with Power Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy (Onshore/Offshore Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems), and Utilities (Gas Networks, Water/Wastewater).
Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in programming Controllers (RTU, BCU, PLC, etc.), HMI, SCADA, or Network Devices (Switch, Firewall, Protocol Gateway, etc.) within IACS.
- Knowledge of IACS manufacturers such as Copa Data, SEL, GE Grid, ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Hirschmann, Moxa, Cisco, Honeywell, and Emerson.
