The Role

As a Senior Financial Crime Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Financial Crime department. You will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and enhancing our Client Onboarding and financial crime operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Performing a strategic review of our systems and providing recommendations to improve control frameworks, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day activities of our Financial Crime and KYC teams, providing guidance, coaching, and training to team leads.
  • Building out the department by defining the right size of resourcing and recruiting new staff to strengthen capabilities.
  • Providing SME operational recommendations in strategic projects, influencing senior leaders and product teams to deliver automated and streamlined operations.
  • Designing and reviewing Management Information to ensure key risks are being monitored and a comprehensive view of the department's performance is reported to senior management.
  • Promoting a strong culture of risk awareness and accountability for controls across the teams.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will involve working autonomously and as part of the overall COO team, ensuring performance adherence to agreed KPIs and critical SLAs on onboarding.

  • Previous experience in a similar Financial Crime role in the Financial Services sector.
  • Expert knowledge of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and the latest Joint Money Laundering Steering Group guidance.
  • A dynamic and curious approach to problem-solving, with a great attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
