We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation and Infrastructure Planning Specialist to join our team at Essex County Council. Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement transportation and infrastructure plans that align with our council's strategic objectives.
- Work closely with local planning authority teams to ensure effective coordination and delivery of major development proposals.
- Provide expert advice on transportation and infrastructure matters to stakeholders, including developers, community groups, and elected members.
- Manage and oversee the development and implementation of major schemes, including statutory processes and project management methodologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the districts and boroughs to influence placemaking and placeshaping in development, ensuring that the best schemes are delivered to create sustainable communities.
- Degree-level education in a related numerate, social science, or humanities subject, or equivalent experience.
- Postgraduate qualification in Transport (MSc or Diploma) or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Significant post-qualification experience in land use and transport planning or civil engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of transport planning policy and practice, including the development plan system and planning legislation.
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills to a variety of audiences.
- Good understanding of town and country planning processes, major development proposals, and highway and transportation major project implementation.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience in using project management methodologies.
