About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Engineer within the Traffic & Safety Team in the Environment and Transport Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and mentoring engineering personnel while assisting the Team Manager in delivering high-quality traffic management and road safety initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of residents, workers, and travelers in Leicestershire.
This position involves collaborating with colleagues in the Traffic & Safety team to provide strategic and technical road safety guidance to stakeholders, partners, and clients. You will also be instrumental in the design and execution of significant traffic management and safety-related projects, contributing to the formulation and implementation of road safety policies and frameworks aligned with Leicestershire County Council's objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop engineering staff within the team.
- Provide expert advice on traffic management and road safety.
- Manage the design and delivery of traffic-related projects.
- Prepare and present complex information to various audiences.
- Ensure compliance with highway legislation and public sector procurement processes.
- Foster community engagement through effective communication and understanding of local needs.
- Utilize IT skills to adapt to service-specific systems and software.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in policy development and project management of engineering schemes.
- Extensive knowledge of highway legislation and public sector procurement.
- Experience in leading and managing a team effectively.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
