An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician within the Traffic & Safety Team in the Environment and Transport Department. We are looking for a dedicated professional to deliver high-quality traffic management and road safety initiatives across Leicestershire, ensuring that services are effectively provided for the community.
Role Overview
This position involves collaborating with colleagues in the Traffic & Safety team to advance the design and implementation of strategic traffic management and safety-related projects. The successful candidate will take the lead in developing a variety of Traffic Regulation Orders.
Candidates should possess experience in an engineering environment, particularly in design, management, maintenance, or administrative processes. A solid understanding of current highway design standards, construction techniques, asset management principles, and maintenance standards is essential.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment with varying priorities. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills are required, along with the ability to foster relationships with stakeholders. In return, you will have the opportunity to manage and support innovative projects that will set the standard for road safety throughout Leicestershire.
Candidate Profile
To be considered for this role, applicants must demonstrate experience in:
- Working within an engineering context related to design, management, maintenance, or administrative processes.
- Contributing to project teams on civil engineering or highway maintenance initiatives.
- Operating in a commercial setting and delivering projects and programs within specified timeframes, quality standards, and budget constraints.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, including technical and non-technical report writing.
- Engaging with communities through active listening, dialogue, and understanding of local needs.
- Proficient IT skills, with the capability to learn service-specific systems and software.
- Knowledge of current legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, Traffic Regulation Act, and CDM.
