About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Traffic Management Assistant Engineer within the Traffic & Safety Team in the Environment and Transport Department. This position involves collaborating with the Senior Engineer to facilitate the assessment, design, and execution of traffic management initiatives and safety-related projects while contributing to policy development.

Your responsibilities will include working closely with colleagues in the Traffic & Safety team, assisting (and leading when necessary) in the design and implementation of improvement programs and projects. This encompasses estimating, consultations, contract management, and supervision to ensure compliance with current standards and timely, quality, and cost-effective delivery of schemes.

You will be expected to provide technical expertise and guidance to Members, Partners, and key stakeholders regarding programs and projects, ensuring effective communication and dialogue, including the preparation of reports.

About You

To be considered for this role, you should have experience in:

  • Working within an engineering environment related to design, management, maintenance, or administrative processes.
  • Developing and managing traffic management projects and work programs, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, engaging in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), preparing estimates/target prices, conducting consultations, contract administration, technical site supervision, and financial monitoring.
  • Engaging with customers, including preparing materials for meetings and exhibitions.
  • Building constructive relationships with stakeholders, peers, and partners, fostering open and transparent relationships based on trust.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication and presentation skills, including technical and non-technical report writing.
  • Connecting with communities through active listening, dialogue, and understanding community needs.
  • Familiarity with current legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, Traffic Regulation Act, and CDM.
