Podiatry Service Lead

Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust Full time
Job Summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Advanced Clinical Specialist Podiatrist to become a key member of our team at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

About the Role

The Podiatry service is a large service that provides multiple care offers to meet the individual needs of the people across the city. We offer specialist services within the community, including wound care, foot protection service for people with high-risk feet, nail surgery, adults and children with foot and ankle pain.

We provide specialist assessment and treatment of foot, ankle and lower limb related problems using diagnostic equipment and treatment packages. We have several Advanced Clinical Podiatrists within the service who have prescribing rights. We offer health coaching and self-management to empower people to self-manage their foot needs.

Our team are based in geographical areas across Leeds. All clinical staff are expected to work in health centres, patients' own homes and care homes. Each team has an Advanced Clinical Podiatrist leading, supporting and developing staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care.

The service works closely with other community services, the acute trust, primary care and other external partners. We have close links with local universities, and we are a research-active team collaborating on national research projects.

Training and developing team members and other stakeholders are an essential element of the Advanced Clinical Podiatrist's role.

Main Responsibilities

As an Advanced autonomous practitioner, you will undertake specialised lower limb assessments using specialised equipment within a varied caseload consisting of diabetic, wound care and biomechanics patients. You will formulate, develop and deliver individualised quality treatment plans based upon evidence-based practice and using appropriate clinical reasoning.

Excellent communication skills are key to developing effective relationships in a multi-professional working environment.

Strong clinical leadership skills will allow you to lead people especially through change and be a key colleague in leading and driving forward quality, innovation and service development. As a role model to others, you will need to be resilient, motivated, and adaptable to change.

The Podiatry service invests in our staff and undergraduate workforce to undertake postgraduate training and mentorship. It is expected that the successful candidate will be committed to ongoing personal development as well as developing others.

The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you are able to travel independently across the city.

If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
