Strategic Internal Audit Lead

Job Purpose:
As a key member of the Service Care Solutions - Legal team, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Internal Audit Lead to join our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of internal audit work, including management of a team, for a specified area of responsibility in line with Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify improvements in internal control, governance, risk management, and operational effectiveness and efficiency, liaising and dealing with all levels of employees across the organization to agree the changes necessary to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide expert advice and consultancy on internal control, corporate governance, and risk management arrangements, including attendance at relevant boards.
- Design, implement, and maintain systems required for delivering the objectives of the function to support the Combined Authority in achieving its vision.
- Take a proactive corporate role in the management of the function, participating in delivering the directorate's objectives.
- Demonstrate commitment to corporate processes and ensure these are delivered at all times.
- Influence, develop, and motivate the team, taking a positive approach to their development.
Requirements:
- CCAB or CMIIA qualified
- Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of audit techniques, practices, procedures, and statutory regulations and their application
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and policies associated with controls, risk management, and governance processes in local government
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of systems of internal control, risk management, and governance processes across public sector services
