York, York City, United Kingdom York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

Are you eager to enhance your expertise in child nutrition?

Join our dedicated team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role presents a remarkable opportunity to cultivate specialized knowledge and skills in pediatric nutrition and to become an integral part of both the Dietetic and the broader Children's Therapy Team.

Our department consists of over 30 dietitians working across diverse specialties. The pediatric team includes a Band 7 Advanced Clinical Specialist, Band 6 Specialist Pediatric Dietitians, and Dietetic Support Workers.

In this position, you will gain proficiency in pediatric nutrition within a nurturing environment. You will manage a variety of pediatric conditions, including allergies, growth issues, feeding challenges, coeliac disease, and enteral feeding, while also addressing an acute inpatient caseload.

We currently provide a range of training programs for healthcare professionals within the Child Health Directorate. The successful candidate will play a vital role in these essential learning and development initiatives, supported by our experienced team.

We prioritize peer support, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development. Our well-established program facilitates the training of dietetic students across various placements.

This role requires travel across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

You will have the chance to collaborate with seasoned dietitians and work within broader multidisciplinary teams. Your responsibilities will include assessing, treating, and delivering specialized dietetic care for pediatric patients.

As an independent practitioner, you will manage your own patient caseload, addressing physical, psychological, and cognitive challenges. Furthermore, you will provide guidance, support, and training to less experienced staff and students.

You will serve as a resource within the department and Trust, offering insights and advice on relevant conditions. It is crucial to maintain precise dietetic records in accordance with Trust guidelines, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards, and the British Dietetic Association (BDA) regulations.

Our department operates flexibly to meet service demands, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services. This may involve working outside of standard hours and traveling to various hospital locations.
