About the Team

The Investor Relations and External Communications team is focused on safeguarding and promoting The Very Group's reputation through various proactive and reactive initiatives. This includes managing public relations, public affairs, digital communications, and more. The team is responsible for executing the Group's external communications strategy, which encompasses corporate news, feature commentary, interviews, and owned content, as well as addressing media inquiries and managing issues.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the head of external communications and investor relations to formulate the external communications strategy.
  • Oversee daily press office operations, ensuring timely responses to media inquiries.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, opinion pieces, feature articles, and social media content (excluding employer branding).
  • Prepare and brief leadership team members for media interviews, speaking engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist in managing reputational challenges, working closely with the head of external communications and investor relations, as well as PR advisors.
  • Evaluate and report on communication outcomes to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Administer The Very Group's corporate website.
  • Lead key initiatives related to The Very Group's corporate identity, including creative direction and tone of voice.
About You

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic, and approachable individual eager to expand their knowledge and skills within a high-performing team.

  • Three to five years of public relations experience, particularly in a corporate setting. A blend of agency and in-house experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with large, complex organizations is preferred, along with an understanding of retail, technology, and financial services sectors.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement communication strategies, utilizing various tactics to meet objectives.
  • Exceptional writing and editing capabilities, with a knack for creating engaging content and a keen eye for detail.
  • Creativity and an instinct for storytelling to generate proactive media coverage and owned content.
  • Knowledge of issues management and the ability to identify potential reputational risks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to influence senior leadership.
  • Confidence in engaging with journalists and other external stakeholders.
  • High levels of self-motivation and effective time management skills.
  • Solid understanding of social media platforms and experience in website management.
