About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Glaucoma to join our dynamic team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Ophthalmology department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a share of the consultant clinical responsibilities within the Department, including managing junior doctors and expanding the Glaucoma service.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during leave and other authorised absences.
  • Join the consultant on call rota in a two-tier on call system.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Entry on the Specialist Register (or entry expected within 6 months).
  • FRCOphth or Equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to offer expert opinion in glaucoma management and offer surgical treatment options.
  • Ability to advise on the efficient running of specialist services.
  • Experience of managing junior doctors.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Post CCT Fellowship in Glaucoma and/or ASTO in glaucoma.
  • Ability to manage and lead specialist units.
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate research.
