About Oak Philanthropy (UK) Limited

Oak Philanthropy (UK) Limited is a leading philanthropic organization committed to addressing global, social, and environmental concerns. Our mission is to create a safer, fairer, and more sustainable world for all, particularly for the disadvantaged.

About the Housing and Homelessness Programme

The Housing and Homelessness Programme is a strategic initiative within Oak Philanthropy (UK) Limited, focused on supporting organizations to end homelessness and create housing opportunities. We prioritize grant-making in the UK and US, with a strong emphasis on social justice, racial equity, and the voices of people with lived experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Management: Manage the grant-making project management system and monitor the grant-making budget.
  • Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation: Take a substantial role in implementing our monitoring, learning, and evaluation strategy, overseeing the regular analysis of our grant-making portfolio, and reviewing outcomes/learning and regularly presenting these to the team.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on housing issues and potential new partners, as directed by the programme director. This includes keeping abreast of relevant policy issues and reading and summarizing external reports for the benefit of the programme team and our grant-making portfolio.
  • Programme Strategy: Contribute to the design, implementation, and regular review of the programme strategy.
  • Communications: Contribute to the programme's communications, including ensuring a communications plan is developed and implemented annually, drafting and formatting content for newsletters, internal reports, presentations, and social media.
  • Grantee Partnerships: Coordinate and connect regularly with grantee partners to gather evidence, publications, and multi-media for communications, monitoring, learning, and evaluation purposes.
  • IT and Administration: Perform a liaison function between Oak's IT team and manage the programme's IT infrastructure, including SharePoint, Teams, grant-making database, and Outlook.
  • Grant Portfolio Management: Under supervision, manage a small portfolio of grants, as required, and perform regular contact with grantee partners.
  • Support to Programme Officers: Support programme officers by developing grants and writing progress reports for existing grant partners.
  • Administrative Support: Provide a range of administrative support for the programme director, including the management of their diary, organization of events, roundtables, and occasional support with travel organization.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree preferred but not essential.
  • Experience: 3-5 years' demonstrable experience of working for a not-for-profit organization or development organization, ideally in a housing and homelessness policy and research.
  • Skills: Highly organized and able to juggle a wide range of responsibilities that may demand ongoing reprioritization. Experience of using social media for research and communications. Demonstrable experience and confidence in all Microsoft applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Additional database experience (preferably Salesforce) is an asset.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to write for a range of different audiences.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Learning: Demonstrated openness and capacity to learn quickly.
