This role is suitable for individuals looking to embark on a career as a Clinical Coding Educator, as well as those who may already possess NHS England Approved Clinical Coding Educator Status.

The successful candidates will receive support in their journey towards obtaining NHS England Approved Trainer Status if they do not already hold it.

The post holder will collaborate with our Senior Clinical Coding Educator to facilitate an effective and high-quality clinical coding training service across various sites.

  • In partnership with the Coding Educator, create and execute a continuous awareness initiative by delivering presentations to both small and large groups and participating in meetings with clinicians and senior management to advocate for clinical coding and the significance of high-quality data.
  • Engage actively in personal development opportunities as agreed with the Coding Educator, ensuring all mandatory training requirements are fulfilled.
  • Promote information sharing and best practices between the two coding locations.
  • Provide coaching for individual coders and assist the Coding Educator during in-house training sessions and team meetings.
  • Perform coding tasks on a daily basis as needed.
  • Review trainee coder submissions before they are entered into the system, offering advice and support where coding discrepancies are identified, and providing training as necessary.
  • Represent the Training & Audit team at clinical coding data quality meetings, addressing coding inquiries and providing feedback at quarterly departmental data quality meetings.
