Kent, United Kingdom Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Full time

Job Overview

We are excited to present an opportunity for individuals to step into the role of Clinical Coding Auditor within our esteemed Clinical Coding Training and Audit Team.

This position is suitable for both newcomers aspiring to build a career in clinical coding auditing and those who already possess NHS England Approved Clinical Coding Auditor Status.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our Senior Clinical Coding Auditor, utilizing our Clinical Coding Data Analytics system while conducting structured audits tailored to specific specialties. You will engage with Clinical Coding Trainers, Management teams, and Clinical Teams to enhance Data Quality and ensure the precision of Clinically Coded Data.

We are committed to supporting successful candidates in their journey towards achieving NHS England Approved Auditor Status.

Main Responsibilities

Leverage the clinical coding department's data analytics software to foster improvements in the quality of coded data generated by the department. Engage with clinicians and trust management to uphold and enhance documentation standards, utilizing the data analytics tool to maximize data quality across all specialties within the Trust.

Conduct monthly evaluations of specific data sets to ensure the clinical coding department consistently produces high-quality, reliable data.

Perform targeted clinical coding audits across all specialties within the Trust and among clinical coders in the department, ensuring compliance with current national clinical coding standards.

In this role, you will provide feedback on coding inaccuracies and highlight areas of poor practice in both coding and documentation standards, working closely with the Senior Clinical Coding Auditor, Senior Clinical Coding Trainer, and the broader Clinical Coding management team.

As a Clinical Coding Auditor, you will liaise with clinical coders, clinicians, and managers to improve the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding.

As part of the audit team, you will offer guidance to coding staff on coding-related matters and assist in monitoring and responding to coding inquiries directed to a designated email inbox.
