About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Equipment Specialist to join our team at Leonardo in Basildon. As a key member of our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, you will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting the operations equipment and equipment processes to enable world-class production of Leonardo products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Continuously improve manufacturing equipment processes, challenging current manufacturing processes and facilities to identify opportunities to reduce cost and timescales.
  • Participate in the uptime/utilization data analysis to optimize equipment performance.
  • Maintain and calibrate manufacturing equipment, including internal and external calibration processes, and conduct Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to schedule.
  • Interface with the Calibration Services provider to support the calibration and repair requirements of manufacturing and test equipment and tooling.
  • Assist in maintaining spares for maintenance, repair, and upgrade activities.
  • Resolve routine manufacturing equipment issues and constraints on the shop floor, reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams.
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)/Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) arrangements to ensure successful ESD processes are in place.
  • Maintain manufacturing equipment documentation, including maintenance schedules and process checklists.
  • Maintain manufacturing equipment critical spares and proactively review/oversight of obsolescence.
  • Support the maintenance of manufacturing support facilities and services to ensure successful manufacture/test of products.
  • Support capital investments, including installation and maintenance definition.
  • Assist and support Manufacturing Engineering in preparing Manufacturing Maturity Reviews.
  • Participate in the Equipment Criticality Assessment/Risk Assessment processes.
  • Support internal and external audits of manufacturing, test equipment, and calibration processes.
  • May supervise an Industrial Placement or Summer Student.
  • Maintain equipment and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Requirements
  • Good practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Ability to articulate and explain technical understanding.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated achievement of own tasks within equipment engineering discipline.
  • Awareness of related engineering disciplines and levels of interaction required within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Experience of measurement techniques and the use of equipment, such as temperature, humidity, dew point, pressure, vacuum, airborne particles, and vibration, relevant to manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and supporting services, including Clean Rooms, Special to Type Test Rooms, Environmental Facilities & Chambers (Thermal & Vibration).
