We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Equipment Specialist to join our team at Leonardo in Basildon. As a key member of our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, you will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting the operations equipment and equipment processes to enable world-class production of Leonardo products.
Key Responsibilities- Continuously improve manufacturing equipment processes, challenging current manufacturing processes and facilities to identify opportunities to reduce cost and timescales.
- Participate in the uptime/utilization data analysis to optimize equipment performance.
- Maintain and calibrate manufacturing equipment, including internal and external calibration processes, and conduct Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to schedule.
- Interface with the Calibration Services provider to support the calibration and repair requirements of manufacturing and test equipment and tooling.
- Assist in maintaining spares for maintenance, repair, and upgrade activities.
- Resolve routine manufacturing equipment issues and constraints on the shop floor, reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams.
- Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)/Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) arrangements to ensure successful ESD processes are in place.
- Maintain manufacturing equipment documentation, including maintenance schedules and process checklists.
- Maintain manufacturing equipment critical spares and proactively review/oversight of obsolescence.
- Support the maintenance of manufacturing support facilities and services to ensure successful manufacture/test of products.
- Support capital investments, including installation and maintenance definition.
- Assist and support Manufacturing Engineering in preparing Manufacturing Maturity Reviews.
- Participate in the Equipment Criticality Assessment/Risk Assessment processes.
- Support internal and external audits of Manufacturing, Test Equipment, and Calibration processes.
- May supervise an Industrial Placement or Summer Student.
- Maintain equipment and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Good practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
- Ability to articulate and explain technical understanding.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated achievement of own tasks within equipment engineering discipline.
- Awareness of related engineering disciplines and levels of interaction required within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Experience of measurement techniques and the use of equipment, such as temperature, humidity, dew point, pressure, vacuum, airborne particles, and vibration, relevant to manufacturing facilities.
- Experience of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and supporting services, including Clean Rooms, Special to Type Test Rooms, Environmental Facilities & Chambers (Thermal & Vibration).
