About the Role

Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Design Systems Engineer to join our Sales department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and managing bespoke electro-mechanical systems for our customers.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Create electrical and mechanical designs of bespoke systems using multiple Crowcon control systems and non-standard enclosures.
  • Quotations and Sales Support: Compile quotations for EFS systems according to agreed requirements and process while communicating with all stakeholders and meeting deadlines.
  • Customer Consultations: Support sales team in pre-sale customer consultations to define system requirements for EFS projects.
  • Information Solutions: Assist with the development of information solutions such as remote 'HMI' displays or PLC/DCS communication packages.
  • System Configuration: Create system configurations to match customer Cause & Effect requirements.
  • Bills of Materials: Produce detailed Bills of Materials for systems and enter onto the Crowcon ERP system.
  • Production Coordination: Coordinate with the Production team to ensure systems are assembled according to the EFS schedule and fully tested prior to despatch.
  • Documentation: Create and deliver bespoke system Operation and Maintenance Manuals and customer documentation packages.
  • Stakeholder Management: Respond to stakeholder and customer emails and telephone calls in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in team meetings and support stakeholders and other departments as required.
  • Customer Site Attendance: Customer site attendance for system support where required by the business.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree qualification (or minimum of HNC) in engineering, electronics or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and/or instrumentation. Proficient in using AutoCad and MS Office applications. Work experience in either a technical sales environment or technical project management.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen and good cost estimation skills. Ability to interface with customers and internal stakeholders confidently and directly. Accurate definition and confirmation of customer needs and specification. Sound, methodical project management skills and prioritization of workload. Ability to manage customer change requests and track status/progress of the system and build delivery.

  • PLC Programming Experience: Desirable: PLC programming experience.
  • Gas Detection Systems Knowledge: Desirable: knowledge of gas detection systems including on-site experience.
