Design Engineer for Fusion Energy

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Tokamak Energy. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for our fusion energy and high-temperature superconductor projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software and CAE tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver mechanical designs and support engineering activities.
- Conduct analysis and simulations to ensure the suitability, performance, and reliability of mechanical designs.
- Work closely with suppliers and technicians to optimize design, resolve issues, and deliver items to service.
- Select the most appropriate materials and manufacturing technology for design, including advanced and developing techniques.
- Ensure safety is considered in all aspects of engineering design.
- HNC/D or degree level in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Detailed knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM systems, data management, and revision control.
- Previous experience of complex design projects with good problem resolution skills.
- Ability to perform design calculations and analysis using engineering software.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Awareness of electromagnetic principles and their mechanical implications in high-current systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to form solid working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Adaptable to change, with the ability to deliver against business priorities.
- Salary dependent on skills and experience.
