About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Tokamak Energy. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and operation of systems and technology that bring commercial fusion energy closer to realization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of physicists, engineers, and researchers to ensure the successful integration of design efforts across a diverse range of fields.
- Contribute to the development of systems engineering practices at Tokamak Energy, taking a leading role in developing some aspects of our end-to-end digital engineering workflows.
- Develop tailored requirements management plans to suit projects and coach other engineers in good requirements writing and management.
- Work with multiple stakeholders to apply systems thinking to projects and lead the development of system architecture models to meet project requirements.
- Guide efforts to ensure that all systems adhere to safety regulations and protocols to guarantee the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Decompose system requirements into functions, develop functional decomposition diagrams, and capture functional requirements for systems and sub-systems.
- Maintain documentation relating to system designs, processes, and procedures, ensuring project technical leaders have the materials they need for technical decision making.
Requirements
- Degree level in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in systems engineering, preferably in the energy or nuclear field.
- Understand the characteristics of good quality requirements and traceability.
- Familiar with systems engineering lifecycle processes and tailoring of processes to optimize project performance.
- Knowledge of verification & validation planning activities.
- Proficiency in MBSE principles and tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Cameo) is highly desirable.
- Experience of tailoring systems engineering processes and coaching others in their application.
- Knowledge of fusion energy principles and technologies is desirable.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols related to energy systems is a plus.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
