Position Overview
Senior Biomedical Laboratory Technician - Cellular Pathology (Band 3)
We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Senior Biomedical Laboratory Technician, Band 3, to become a vital member of the Cellular Pathology Team at St George's Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Ideal candidates will possess strong verbal and written communication abilities and demonstrate a capacity to collaborate effectively with fellow Biomedical Laboratory Technicians and Biomedical Scientists within a cohesive team environment.
Successful applicants will undergo comprehensive training and may be required to provide services across various Trust locations.
Once fully trained and proficient, candidates will be expected to participate in a scheduled work roster.
Key Responsibilities
Cellular Pathology Duties
This role is primarily based within the Cellular Pathology Department, with the possibility of working at other South West London Pathology facilities as needed. We seek an enthusiastic and diligent individual to work closely with laboratory personnel in our dynamic and supportive department.
Responsibilities will encompass:
- Overseeing the team of Biomedical Laboratory Technicians
- Ensuring the maintenance and functionality of laboratory equipment
- Assisting laboratory staff with various technical tasks
- Inputting patient information into the pathology computer system
- Supporting medical professionals with the handling of diagnostic tissue samples
Candidates should possess strong literacy, biological science knowledge, numeracy, and communication skills; proficiency in keyboarding is advantageous.
The ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage individual workloads is essential. Previous experience with medical terminology and data entry in a diagnostic pathology setting is preferred.
