We are seeking an experienced Optometrist to join our team at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Clinics Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients in our Ophthalmology department.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical care autonomously and in association with Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Ophthalmic Nurses, and other professional and non-professional eye clinic staff.
- Make clinical decision management decisions for patients requiring an advanced Optometrist's knowledge and experience.
- Take on extended roles within the Ophthalmology department, including medical retinal/macula, glaucoma, corneal, paediatric, and cataract clinics.
- Participate and contribute to training and teaching of other professionals, non-professional eye clinic staff, and students.
- Lead a specialist area of core Optometry.
- Adapt communication style appropriately to effectively communicate with all professional and non-professional staff, patients, students, and carers to promote the best patient care and service delivery.
- Manage own clinical workload in an adaptable manner and plan the service for sub-specialist areas of leadership.
- Contribute to the development of department policies, protocols, clinical guidelines, and patient information.
