Director of Communications - 12 month Fixed Term Contract (Parental Leave Cover)

This is a great opportunity to join the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) as the Director of Communications. This senior role is one of great breadth, with huge scope for inspirational values-led leadership and team building across Communications teams, the broader organisation and global UNICEF.

The role has responsibility for Media Relations, Ambassador Relations, Creative Content and Organic Social Media, sits under the Chief Marketing Office, sits on the Extended Leadership Group, and has a close working relationship with the Chief Executive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing integrated communication strategies to achieve organisational objectives
  • Cultivating significant high-profile relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing reputational risk and crises, ensuring the safeguarding of the organisation's reputation
  • Working closely with the Public Engagement function to set and achieve objectives
  • Supporting teams across the organisation to deliver influence, income, and impact

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, proven expertise in leading large, multi-discipline communications teams, and a deep understanding of the importance of values-led leadership and team building.

They will be able to evidence working in large complex organisations, nurturing professional relationships with colleagues and external contacts at all levels, and engaging and guiding others to achieve ambitious goals.

Please note that this is a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing an opportunity for the successful candidate to make a significant impact on the organisation.
