Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Aseptic Services team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and dispensing of medicines, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise and accuracy check all aspects of the aseptic services process
  • Work closely with the lead technicians to assist in the coordination of service delivery, training, and maintaining quality assurance within the department
  • Prepare non-sterile medicinal products for specific patients, including suspensions, creams, ointments, and powders
  • Prepare sterile medicinal products for specific patients in a laminar flow cabinet/isolator in a controlled clean room environment, including parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy treatments
  • Check components on assembled batch trays for sterile products before processing
  • Check labels produced for sterile, non-sterile, and re-packaged products, including chemotherapy, before processing or assembly
  • Supervise the re-packaging carried out by Pharmacy Assistants according to standard operating procedures

  • Must be able to work methodically and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to communicate well verbally with other healthcare professionals and patients
  • Pleasant and helpful manner
  • Must possess initiative and be able to work well within a team
  • Able to mix well with current staff establishment
  • Portfolio of evidence for continuing professional development
  • Significant post-qualification experience in dispensing medicines
  • Desirable: Ward top-up Aseptic preparation, Cytotoxic reconstitution, Medicines Management, NHS experience
  • Essential: BTEC in Pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent, Certificate of Accreditation as a Checking Technician
