About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Security Engineer to join our Vulnerability Management and Pentesting team at Tesco Technology.

This is an exciting opportunity for a security-focused engineer to work with our expanding organisation, providing actionable insight into the security posture of our systems and platforms.

The role will involve being hands-on with a focus on the availability and reliability of our critical security tooling, while automating away operational burden.

As a senior position, you will have the freedom to leverage your knowledge and real-world experience to work with other teams and drive innovation across our prevention, detection, and response capabilities.

When major security incidents occur, you will work alongside other security colleagues to bring your experience to the table.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Detection Capabilities: Develop and enhance our detection, data correlation, and response capabilities in the Vulnerability Management space, feeding into standards and patterns for our engineering community.
  • Tooling and Reporting: Create tooling and reporting to help manage our external attack surface, providing valuable insights to stakeholders.
  • Automating Integrations: Automate integrations between platforms and tooling to streamline our security operations.
  • Incident Response: Use your observations from security incidents and reporting about relevant security threats to contribute to our internal detection engineering programme.
  • Analyst Up-skilling: Work alongside our analysts to up-skill them in Vulnerability Management and identify patterns and issues that can be fixed centrally.
  • POC Assessments: Conduct Proof of Concept assessments from our active Bug Bounty Program.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working in the IT Security Industry.
  • Experience with responding to security incidents in large-scale corporate environments.
  • A good understanding of Bug Bounty programmes.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Power Shell, Terraform, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of networking, web services, and application testing.
  • Experience with Vulnerability Scanning tools such as Qualys and Tenable, etc.
  • Keen to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and bringing industry standards to everything we do.
  • Proactive and able to operate independently, comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Resilient, taking ownership of seeing issues through to resolution while looking after yourself to be at your best.
