Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

This role presents a unique opportunity to develop and implement a strategic vision aimed at enhancing and safeguarding the organization’s intellectual property portfolio.

  • Lead the intellectual property strategy for Isomorphic Labs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overarching goals.
  • Collaborate with the IsoLegal team and various research and senior leadership groups to create and execute intellectual property strategies.
  • Identify and implement strategies to protect innovations arising from IsoLabs' research and development, including advancements in AI/ML and therapeutic innovations.
  • Educate stakeholders on intellectual property matters and provide guidance on IP-related issues.
  • Manage the organization’s intellectual property affairs, including client counseling, licensing, patent preparation, and litigation.
  • Anticipate potential IP disputes and conduct thorough assessments to mitigate risks.
  • Advise scientific and business teams on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and other IP risks.
  • Stay updated on legal trends and regulatory changes affecting intellectual property.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An advanced technical or scientific degree, with a preference for a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in intellectual property law.
  • Experience in building and managing global patent portfolios, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • A strong understanding of the drug development process.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in legal research and compliance.
  • Prior experience in patent law related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, or AI-driven drug discovery.
  • A background in developing early-stage IP legal functions is advantageous.
