Key Responsibilities

This role presents a unique opportunity to shape and implement a strategic vision that enhances and safeguards the organization's intellectual property portfolio.

  • Lead the intellectual property strategy for Isomorphic Labs, ensuring a balance between strategic foresight and practical execution.
  • Collaborate with the IsoLegal team and various research and senior leadership teams to design, develop, and implement intellectual property strategies aligned with the organization's overarching goals.
  • Identify and pursue strategies to protect innovations arising from IsoLabs' research and development, including advancements in AI/ML and therapeutic innovations.
  • Educate stakeholders on IP matters, provide guidance, and manage the company's intellectual property affairs, including client counseling, licensing transactions, patent preparation, and litigation management.
  • Anticipate potential IP disputes, conduct assessments, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Advise scientific and business colleagues on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and IP-related risks.
  • Stay updated on legal trends and regulatory changes, working closely with internal teams and external partners to support the development of new technologies.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An advanced technical or scientific degree with over 10 years of demonstrated experience in intellectual property law.
  • Experience in building and managing extensive global patent portfolios for therapeutic drug candidates.
  • A background in the pharmaceutical industry with a solid understanding of the drug development process.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage complex projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in legal research and compliance.
  • A PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Prior in-house experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience in patent law related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and AI-driven drug discovery.
  • Experience in establishing or developing an early-stage IP legal function.
