About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to join our team at LGC. As a key member of our Grant Management Group, you will play a crucial role in supporting the commercialization of intellectual property assets created by researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide scientific, commercial, and regulatory support and analysis for the commercialization of intellectual property assets.
  • Support the training of researchers to promote industrial engagement and the commercialization of intellectual property.
  • Manage a reagents portfolio and provide face-to-face support to researchers at various sites.
  • Engage with legal and patent subcontractors to resolve intellectual property and commercialization cases.
  • Gather data and provide detailed analysis to support the development of business cases for intellectual property commercialization.
  • Deliver core training for staff on intellectual property and commercialization.
  • Work with internal and external legal advice to review collaboration agreement issues.
  • Support the identification of intellectual property requiring protection and work with colleagues and external patent agents to protect intellectual property.
  • Maintain accurate database records of current intellectual property assets being managed.
  • Support other team members with technology transfer activities.
Requirements
  • Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) qualified in life sciences.
  • Understanding of intellectual property management processes and ways to protect intellectual property assets.
  • Ability to communicate information regarding intellectual property and commercialization to a range of audiences.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of working in a technology transfer environment to commercialize life science and health-related intellectual property.
  • Some experience of negotiating commercialization licenses.
  • Understanding of the different priorities of industry, researchers, and government when agreeing mutually beneficial outcomes for the commercialization of intellectual property.
