Senior Staff Engineer in Functional Safety

Job Description

Renesas is at the forefront of developing advanced computing platforms tailored for sectors such as Autonomous Vehicles, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and Industrial Automation. The Functional Safety Competence Center plays a crucial role in conducting essential safety evaluations and analyses within the automotive domain, where the dependability and safety of hardware components are paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct Technical Evaluations: Undertake assessments of automotive hardware components, including microcontrollers (MCU), system-on-chip (SoC), analog devices, and power systems, in accordance with the functional safety standard ISO26262.

2. Deliver Safety Analyses: Provide independent safety evaluations for hardware products, focusing on their ability to operate safely in the presence of random hardware faults.

3. Execute Fault Injection Simulations: Perform fault injection simulations to inform hardware design and enhance robustness against random hardware failures.

4. Foster Global Collaboration: Lead and coordinate efforts with international teams across the company's global operations.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

1. Educational Qualifications: A bachelor's degree with honors in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field, demonstrating a solid technical foundation.

2. Relevant Experience: Experience in digital or analog semiconductor hardware design is essential, with additional experience in Functional Safety and microcontroller design being advantageous.

3. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for evaluating hardware safety and guiding design enhancements.

4. Cross-Cultural Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with diverse and multicultural teams, as the role requires collaboration with global colleagues.

5. Commitment to Continuous Learning: A proactive approach to skill development and staying abreast of evolving safety standards and technologies is highly valued.
