Job Overview

Position Summary

An exceptional opportunity is available to become part of a pioneering initiative focused on delivering treatment and recovery services for substance use across a designated region. This initiative is a collaboration between leading organizations in the field, combining extensive experience and specialized knowledge to support individuals facing complex challenges.

Our commitment to a 'Recovery First' philosophy ensures that recovery is central to our approach, with lived experience integrated throughout our services. This model aims to provide comprehensive support for individuals dealing with various issues.

As part of our team, you will have the chance to advance your career through a structured development program, offering clear pathways to achieve your professional aspirations while leveraging your strengths.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a vital member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the psychological services across the region, ensuring that evidence-based practices are effectively implemented. Your responsibilities will include providing clinical guidance, training, and leadership throughout the organization.

You will utilize your expertise to enhance innovative strategies for engaging with individuals experiencing substance use challenges, offering practical insights on trauma-informed psychological interventions to colleagues and community partners. Additionally, you will maintain a manageable caseload of clients with complex needs, delivering specialized psychological assessments and therapeutic services.

Your role will involve contributing to local governance structures, including clinical governance meetings and multidisciplinary case discussions. Collaboration with partner organizations will be essential to improve referral processes and joint service delivery for clients facing both substance use and mental health challenges.

Moreover, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the service, fostering strong professional relationships with other service providers, and leveraging your expertise to enhance support and educational frameworks. Continuous improvement of services and integration of broader issues such as housing and employment into treatment will be a priority.

You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with a national team of Clinical, Counselling, and Forensic Psychologists to develop psychological and psychosocial methodologies applicable across services, as well as pursue a therapeutic specialization aligned with service needs. Providing clinical supervision and support to other psychological practitioners will be part of your responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess current registration with the relevant professional body as a Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychologist, along with a doctorate in their area of expertise and a proven track record in delivering psychological services. Experience in leading and mentoring clinical staff, particularly within substance use contexts, will be highly valued.

Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to the principles of recovery will be essential attributes for success in this role. Previous supervisory experience in psychological roles and formal training in supervision will be advantageous.

We are seeking a seasoned psychologist for this specialized position, which aligns with advanced professional standards. We are also considering applications for the role of Practitioner Psychologist, suitable for newly qualified professionals or those nearing completion of their training.
