Job Description

Ward, a leading family-owned business in the waste management and recycling sector, is seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Manager to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Ward fulfils its environmental and sustainability legal compliance obligations and maintains its ISO 14001:2015 accreditation.
  • Develop and implement Ward's 10-year sustainability roadmap, The Ward Way, and ensure the company meets all required standards to maintain its environmental permits.
  • Work in partnership with the Board of Directors, HR, and Operations Managers across nine locations to achieve and implement The Ward Way.
  • Collect and analyze data, produce reports, and make recommendations to the Board to support Ward's net zero targets and sustainability goals.
  • Represent the company at external events, such as the BMRA Low Carbon Committee and CIWM Waste Regulation SIG, and participate in conferences and knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Conduct site audits and liaise with operational teams regularly to ensure a visible presence across all sites.
  • Support the delivery of Ward's ISO Environmental Management System ISO14001:2015.
Requirements:
  • Degree in an environmental discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Environmental Management or Senior Sustainability role.
  • Experience with reporting through EcoVardis or similar platform.
  • Previous management experience, including managing one direct report.
