Overview
The Maintenance Reliability Engineering (MRE) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in our operational success – they ensure that essential machinery operates seamlessly.

As a Maintenance Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the upkeep of various equipment and work environments while adhering to Health and Safety standards. Your efforts will contribute to the safety of your coworkers and minimize equipment downtime. Our MRE Engineers enhance the reliability and quality of our machinery and strive to improve the operational landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive and preventive maintenance on a diverse array of site machinery
  • Perform reactive repairs and troubleshoot issues in a live distribution environment
  • Utilize advanced tools to optimize equipment performance
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and protocols
  • Assist in the training and development of onsite apprentices
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across multiple sites

A Day in the Life
Our MRE Engineers are stationed on-site, allowing for rapid response to any machinery concerns. You will execute a variety of scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates safely. As a Maintenance Reliability Engineer, you will also address breakdowns promptly, diagnosing issues and implementing solutions efficiently. Additionally, you will propose long-term enhancements.

Collaborating with senior team members, you will handle daily maintenance activities such as plumbing and painting, and coordinate with external contractors when specialized expertise is required.

You will work various shifts to ensure our operations are supported continuously, enabling Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.

About the Team
Our Maintenance Reliability Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our equipment functioning optimally. We are a technically skilled group, composed of strong collaborators and guided by experienced leaders. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery across our global fulfillment network.

Some team members take on leadership roles, overseeing projects involving cutting-edge technology, some of which is unique to Amazon.

From implementing automated systems to managing general site maintenance and repairing critical distribution machinery, our team addresses a wide range of technical challenges.

We ensure compliance with safety regulations, guaranteeing a secure environment while maximizing operational efficiency. There are numerous opportunities for career advancement, both within the MRE team and throughout Amazon.

Our focus is on minimizing downtime in Amazon's essential operations, ensuring timely order fulfillment for our customers. We often work during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method, we possess the skills and opportunities to develop and introduce innovative processes or advanced technologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • Completion of a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or qualification to at least NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications
While preferred qualifications are not mandatory for application, they are advantageous:

  • Apprentice trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
  • Experience in condition-based monitoring
  • Familiarity with print and apply machinery
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
