Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at Penguin Recruitment. As a key member of our Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of structural engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and develop a team of structural engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  2. Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  3. Resolve technical issues and provide innovative solutions to complex structural challenges, collaborating with colleagues and clients to achieve project goals.
  4. Provide technical direction and oversight on complex structural projects, ensuring that designs meet the required standards and regulations.
  5. Present design concepts, project updates, and technical findings to clients, management, and regulatory authorities, effectively communicating complex technical information.

Requirements:

  1. A relevant first-class degree (e.g., MEng or BEng) in a field such as Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  2. A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in Structural design, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects.
  3. Working towards chartership status (ICE or IStructE) or chartered membership, demonstrating a commitment to professional development.
  4. A Full UK driving license, enabling you to travel to project sites and client meetings.
  5. Design experience in materials including concrete, steel, timber, and masonry, with a strong understanding of structural principles and practices.
